I usually order a large Ice tea in the morning during happy hour along with breakfast, however since starting my diet I have been ordering large water with lemon. After Tax it comes up to $.66 or $.77 ($.50 for the water + $.10 for lemon) depending on who is ringing me up. That in itself is frustrating, not to mention the fact that $.66 is fairly expensive for water! Well the other day on my way to work, I visited the sonic drive in store #3451 and they charged me $.25 for water + $.10 lemon totaling $.39 after tax. I thought that was odd, but I like that price A LOT better and seems more reasonable. So that prompted me to ask sonic drive in store # 3409 which I have gone to almost every day (of the week) for the last couple of years, why do they charge $.25 more for the same product. I was told that they are two different stores and that they don't have to charge the same thing, bad and unfair answer in my opinion. So then I asked, well sense its happy hour can I get my water for 1/2 off and I was quickly told no they don't give discounts on water, WATER?!?!

I know this may seem very petty but ITS JUST WATER!!!!! Most stores give it to you free and if not free, $.25 at the most. I feel cheated especially knowing that there is another Sonic Drive in store 6 miles away that sells water for $.25! It's the Principal and being fair to your customer no matter how much they spend! I work right next to Sonic Dive in store #3409; I am slowly but surely going to stop spending my money there for lunch or my measly little ice water in the morning if this isn't fixed soon.

Oh! And to top it all off today I was charged $.60 for a large ice (just ice) , When large water is $.50!!!! How do you explain that!

Thank you.

Really! if you order food from a restaurant it is only right to provide a cup of water to someone who does not prefer to drink sugar .

I wish people wouldnโ€™t complain about this. Do you know how hard it is to convince most restaurants to give you a large iced water at the drive-through?

I always offer to pay the regular soda price up front because it seems fair to me, and I donโ€™t want a mini cup, but even with the offer to pay, I am usually told they can only do their smallest size or suggest that I buy a bottle of water (but I want ice!). I love that Sonic has no problem with giving you ice water and will happily ring you up. I pay a dollar for a route 44 with lime at my Sonic, and Iโ€™d happily pay regular soda price for watering they wanted me to.

I mean, they sell bottled water, so why not ice water? If only it were so easy to get a big ice water at any restaurant (short of coming in, buying a large drink and fixing it yourself at restaurants where you can do that).

With the outrageous prices that they charge on food, they should cheerfully give you your water for free.

Those cups are ruining the world !!!

Stop buying water in those terrible styrofoam cups every day . Take your own water in a refilling vessel

I wish that was all I had to complain about. What a whiner. I feel for your husband having to live with you

they are there to make a profit. they probably spend a few thousand on the ice machine to make the ice, the employees to bring you the ice, not to mention cost of cup.

theyre not there to give your self righteous butt a free ride.

if you dont like it go get water from your house... oh wait IT AINT FREE EITHER DUMMY god some people whine about everything!!

Guest

All of them seem to charge whatever they want. I usually get charged .32 for lemon water but this morning was charged .82.

Im really tired of the different prices. I spend alot on sonic food but im ready to stop going there altogether.

Stop whining

Really? You are on a diet and are eating at sonic?

You can't get your water from home? Get a thermos and bring your own water from home.

Those cups are not free, straws are not free, usually when you get free water it's in a smaller cup and guess what that really adds up. Who goes to sonic for water anyway?

Guest

Seriously? It's just water. Get over it. If water was free then no one would be paying a water bill, would they? If we gave away water, do you have any idea how much money the company would lose? Especially if you're putting a lemon in it too. And ice. It all adds up.

It's less than a dollar and that dollar is going towards our paychecks and stocking up the Sonic to serve YOU. You are paying us for making you the *** drink, cutting and squeezing that lemon for you, wasting materials for hold the drink in (A cup, a lid, and a straw), wasting carhop time to run it out for you, and only for you to gripe about $0.66? Get a life.

If you want free water, man up and get a portable cup, a filter for your tap if you're that *** picky, throw ice in it (Heaven forbid if you have to manually put the ice in from an ice box, am I right?), and cut the *** lemon yourself to put it in and enjoy it. Maybe then you'd realize that maybe paying $0.66 to have it done for you and fresh every day you ask for it ain't so bad.

But, seriously. How can anyone take you seriously. You're REALLY going to complain over a measly quarter? People are so annoying and rude these days. We carhops have to deal with a lot without people like you griping over a *** quarter when people like me are living with our heads just above the water on tips and a small salary.

As for the ice and water thing, that is weird. At the Sonic I work at, ice is cheaper than water. But, whatever. I bet they do that cause they hate you, probably. Which, you probably deserve it if you're going to throw this much of a petty argument over water.

As you said, it's just water. So give them the *** 0.66. In fact, I think you should be a lot nicer to the people who are serving you rather than griping at them for what money you're spending and give them the full dollar, letting the carhop have a tip for once cause it's apparent you're stingy as *** with your money. I hope you're happy. There are people at my Sonic who gladly tip me $5+ cause I do my job and I do it well. Yet you're stingy with a quarter. I think it's about time you take a look at yourself, hun.

Just went threw and wanted to charge me for ice..heard of charging for a cup but not water and ice. Maybe bell hop girl should get a better job and then she wouldn't have to listen to people *** about a qtr.

Why should this customer who sounds like a regular have to do all the lemon and bring his cup along every day. That's what restaurantsdo they serve and please people. If ya don't like it get in a different field of work.

If you think that's bad, you should read the review in the Walgreen's Pissed Off Consumer Section about the Nutjob customer who threw a fit over 6 cents.
